As Experience Africa Week 2026 draws to a close, we invite you as part of the community, on this final day, into a sacred and meaningful space — to experience a moment where faith, culture, and shared humanity meet.
This Interfaith Gathering is more than an event. It is a collective pause — a time to reflect on where we have come from, where we are, and where we are going together as one community.
In a world often shaped by differences, this gathering affirms a simple but powerful truth: we are stronger together.
Why we gather
This interfaith session brings together people of diverse spiritual traditions in a spirit of:
- Mutual respect
- Shared reflection
- Community healing
- Collective responsibility
It is not a debate, nor a space for conversion. Instead, it is a platform where each faith tradition shares how it contributes to the wellbeing of Curaçao — and how, together, we can build a more compassionate and united society.
Theme
Stronger together on Our Journey
Healing, Faith and Commitments
This theme reminds us that beyond our different paths of belief, we share:
- A common history
- A shared present
- A collective future
It calls us to move forward with unity, courage, and purpose.
What to expect
Keynote Address on Our Shared Roots
Following the introduction of the Moderator for the day, Tico Vos, our distinguished guest speaker Charles do Rego will take us on a quick historical journey:
- Exploring Curaçao before the arrival of organized religions
- Reflecting on how different faiths came to the island
- Understanding how they shaped the community over time
This perspective reminds us that before differences, there was — and still is — one community.
Interfaith Session
Representatives from four key faith traditions will share reflections on roles played by their faith communities in society. The panel is made up of:
- Reverend Kenneth Kross of the Ebenezer Protestant Church as the Christian faith representative.
- Rabbi Martin Hirsch of the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue as the Jewish faith representative.
- Imam Adnan Rayeha of the Omar Bin Al-Khattab Mosque as the Islamic faith representative.
- Richenel Ansano as African Spirituality representative.
Demystifying the other faiths
This will be an opportunity to learn about:
- The faiths values and teachings
- Contribution to community well-being
- Outreach efforts and real-life impact
- And a lot more
This is a moment of learning, listening, and mutual appreciation.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with faith leaders through an open and respectful question-and-answer session.
Who Should Attend
This event is open to:
- Individuals of all faiths and beliefs
- Families and young people
- Community leaders and organizations
- Anyone seeking understanding, connection, and unity.
You Should Be There if you want to:
- Experience a rare and meaningful interfaith dialogue
- Gain deeper understanding of the spiritual diversity of Curaçao
- Be part of a conversation that promotes peace, unity, and healing
- Connect with leaders and members of different faith communities
- Leave inspired with a renewed sense of hope and purpose
Thoughts to take with you
The session will conclude with reflection and a shared commitment to continue building bridges across communities.
Before religion, before differences — there was community.
And maybe the goal isn’t to erase our differences… but to learn how to move forward with them, together.
Therefore, this gathering challenges each of us to reflect not only on what makes us different — but on what binds us together.
